The area examines the decentralised collective bargaining at company and local level, adopting an approach in line with the industrial relations theory: our analysis includes all the relationship developed among social actors at the different negotiation levels.
Besides dealing with traditional issues of negotiation process (working hours, wages etc..), the area gives a great emphasis on the quality of the comparison between worker representatives and management but also between workers representatives and workers, and managemente and workers.
There is a double method of investigating industrial relations: a quantitative method, through a database including all decentralised collective agreements, and qualitative method, aimed at understanding the new dynamic of industrial relations.
Specific focus is given to how technological and organisation changes impact on industrial relations and, more in details, on workers partecipation. The quality of decentralised collective bargaining and industrial relations is strictly correlated to business innovation; both innovation and collective bargaining have a crucial role in managing workforce, increasing the quality of professional profiles and competitiveness of the regional economic and social system.
